Air conditioning freon filters remove dust and particles from the air. They need to be replaced when they become dirty because it can make the air conditioning system work harder, leave dust in the air, waste energy and raise energy costs. It is important to check your filter every two months. This maintenance job is simple and easy to do. Disposable filters will need to be replaced and permanent filters will require cleaning.
Step 1 – Checking the Filter
Open the cover to the air conditioning filtration unit. Pull the filter from the system. Check the filter for visible dust and debris.
Step 2 – Replacing the Disposable Filter
A dirty disposable filter should be removed completely and disposed of properly. Inspect the filter and make note of the correct filter placement in the system. Most filters have arrows that will show the correct placement direction. Place the filter in the unit and close the cover.
Step 3 – Washing the Permanent Filter
A dirty permanent filter will need to be cleaned. Read the instructions provided by the manufacturer before you begin. Follow the directions and clean the filter properly. Place the clean filter in the unit and close the cover.
