How to Install Street Tee Fittings How to Install Street Tee Fittings

What You'll Need
Measuring tape
Pencil and paper
PVC street tee fitting 2 1/2 by 1 1/2 inch
Wrench for PVC pipe
2 inch pipe
4 by 2 pipe wye
Pipe straps and clamps
Pipe cutter
Plumbers putty

The advantage of street tee fittings is that their male MIP connector on one side of the tee and a female FIP connector on the other side allow connection to other fittings without a pipe nipple. Follow these steps to install a street tee fitting.

Step 1 - Measure the Location for the Pipe Wye

Measure from the floor to get the correct location for the pipe wye. It should be as high off the floor as possible for pipe ventilation and the horizontal pipe for your sink.

Step 2 - Cut the Hole in 4 inch Pipe and Insert the Pipe Wye

Support the 4 inch pipe with pipe straps and clamps, then cut the 4 inch hole for the pipe wye. Insert the pipe wye and the vent pipe, which will run parallel to the main water pipe. Secure all connections with plumbers putty.

Step 3 - Insert the Street Tee Fitting

Insert the female end of the street tee into the pipe wye, and connect the male end to the horizontal pipe. Tighten both ends snugly and seal all connections with plumbers putty.
