Cork and Drywall Can Be Used to Soundproof a Room
People often glue cork to the walls of a room to act as soundproofing. Cork provides a layer of material that can diffuse sound to a certain extent. It acts as an insulating material for the room. Cork alone does not offer a great deal of soundproofing for a room; however, if you put cork over drywall and then put another layer of drywall over the cork, you will create a strong soundproofing system. The soft cork will create a layer of air between the two layers of drywall. The cork, along with the air trapped within it, helps to soundproof.
