The igneous rock is one of the three types of rocks that are formed from molten rock. Because of the way the lava forms the igneous rock there are many properties that are beneficial to us. One huge benefit of the igneous rocks is that they contain several useful ores. The ores range from tungsten, tin, and uranium to chromium and platinum. Also, the igneous rocks are very hard and therefore have a lot of applications in the world especially for building.
Uses of the Igneous Rock
There are many different uses for the igneous rock. It’s important to note that there are also several different types of igneous rocks. Each type of rock has its own specific characteristics and therefore each one has its own set of uses. Some of the rocks are used to make road building materials.
- Granite – Granite is seen all the time. The rocks get polished and shaped and are often used as decorations in buildings, on countertops, and even floors. For a long time, granite has been used to build statues and monuments so that they last longer.
- Pumice – Pumice is a very light rock and is used mainly for decorations.
- Crystalline – This type gets commonly used in jewelry and similar items.
