Changing a tire without impact power tools can be difficult and time consuming, using them will save you a lot of extra hassle. Impact power tools are designed to quickly remove the nuts securing the tire into place. Without the tools, you will have to do this manually.
- Step 1: Put the car in park, turn off the car, and put on the emergency brake. Locate the spare tire, car jack, and lug nut wrench in your vehicle.
- Step 2: Remove the hubcap and loosen each nut on the tire in a star pattern one turn. If they were put on with impact power tools this step will require elbow grease.
- Step 3: Put the car jack into the described position in the user's manual and lift the car so the tire is off the ground. Remove the nuts and tire.
- Step 4: Put on the new tire, tighten the nuts, replace the hubcap, and lower the jack.
How to Change a Tire With Impact Power Tools
If you do have impact power tools handy, you can follow all of the instructions above using them instead of the lug nut wrench. You do not have to loosen the screws before the car is lifted.
