Install Vinyl Countertop Edges

What You'll Need
Vinyl edging
Sharp scissors
Vinyl adhesive
Small paintbrush

If you don't care for the look of a seamless countertop, installing vinyl countertop edges is a good solution. This does require some time and a few tools, but most anyone can do this in just a day or two.

Step 1 - Cut to Size

Place the edging against the countertop and mark the edge pieces. Depending on the length of the counter, you may need a friend to hold the edging in place. Use the scissors to make the cuts at your marks to cut it to size.

Step 2 - Apply Adhesive

Use the paintbrush to apply a thin layer of adhesive to the edge of the counter. You can find special adhesive designed specifically for vinyl applications.

Step 3 - Place the Strips

Place the vinyl edge strips against the edge of the countertop. You will have a few minutes to play with the placement to ensure it's even before the adhesive starts to set. Use a friend to help even it out for longer strips.

Step 4 - Clamp it in Place

Use the clamps to secure the strips in place. The clamps need to stay in place for several hours, and most suggest to leave it for at least 12 hours before you remove them.
