Installing a Ceiling Mounted Pot Rack on a Slanted Ceiling Installing a Ceiling Mounted Pot Rack on a Slanted Ceiling
A ceiling mounted pot rack in your kitchen can provide a great way to organize your pots and pans while giving you more storage space. Any ceiling space can be a place for you to mount your pot rack, even if it is slanted. Installation will be similar to mounting any rack, but this project will require a plumb line to ensure the rack hangs evenly in place.
Step 1 - Locate Ceiling Joists
Climb your ladder to access the slanted ceiling, and use a stud finder to locate the joists. Mark these locations. It is important to hang the rack into the joists, as it will be holding a lot of weight and will be dangerous if hung on just a drywall or plasterboard. Mounting on joists will help prevent accidents.
Step 2 - Drop Plumb Bob
Locate a good spot to hang your ceiling-mounted rack. Use a plumb bob to ensure that you are working in a safe space.
Step 3 - Drill Holes
Drill the joists that will be for appropriate for the size of your lag bolt.
Step 4 - Make Adjustments
Adjust the rack’s height from the floor. The pot rack you purchased may come with hardware and mounting plates that will be used with your lag bolts. It is recommended to put it at a height of about 7 feet, which is higher than the average person’s height. Any rack placed lower will be dangerous for people who are tall since they could hit their heads while walking around your kitchen
Step 5 - Mount the Pot Rack
As soon as you have your mounting hardware in place, you can hang the pot rack already. Test it by gently tugging the rack to feel if it is secured in place. If it feels loose, double-check the mounts and tighten anything that needs to be tightened.
If your rack is hung by a chain, attach the chain to the mounts and connect it to the rack.
Step 5 - Use Level
Use a level to ensure that your pot rack is level on all sides.
Step 6 - Hang Pots Evenly
As soon as you’ve mounted the rack in place, you can start hanging your pots and pans. Make sure you hang them one by one and distribute the weight evenly.
