What You'll Need
Insulated gate handle (one for each wire you have strung)
Heavy gloves
Electric wiring to fit across opening for the gate
Handle anchor (one for each strand of wire)
Drill and bit (optional)
Line tightener for each strand of wire

When you get ready to install your electric fence gate you need to have the right materials for the job. It is a simple thing to do so you should feel confident about the installation. You have already installed the fence so now you are at the last part, installing the gate opener. There are different types of gates you can have. For this example we are using wire with a gate handle.

Step 1 - Install the Wiring

After you have chosen the site for your gate, measure the amount of wire you need to cover the space. If you have already cut the wire prior to the post at the site, string new strands across the opening. Measure and make sure you do not cut it too short. Attach the new wire to the last connection at the post. Install the handle anchor on the opposite post by screwing it into the post using the pliers. (you can drill a starter hole to make it easier).

Step 2 - Install the Opener

Now on the end of the wiring beside the anchor attach the handle to the end of the wire, measuring first to make sure it is tight. If it is too loose, attach the line tightener and spooling it around the wire, tighten it until it is taut when you hook the handle. Now turn on the power.
