The bathtub shower doors are a great addition to the bathroom. Not only do they look great, but they are also highly practical as they keep the water from flowing all over the bathroom floor. You can install the bathtub shower doors on your own if you have the installation kit and a few tools. Here’s how you do the job.

Step 1 – Measuring the Bathtub

The first step in installing bathtub shower doors, is to get the measurements right. Measure the length, width and the height of your bathtub. Generally bathtubs come in standard sizes, but it is always advisable to take the measurements.

Step 2 – Buying the Bathtub Shower Doors

Head to your favorite home improvement store and choose the design or the type of bathtub shower doors you like.

Step 3 – Double Check

Make sure to double check whether the measurements match with your bathtub.

Step 4 – Cleaning the Bathtub

Before you start with the installation of the bathtub shower doors, make sure to clean the tub well. Use cleaning liquid and a brush to scrub the surface,

Step 5 – Dry

Drain out the water from the bathtub and let it dry.

Step 6 – Sealant

Get a good sealant and apply it on the surface of the bathtub where the bottom track of the bathtub shower doors will rest.

 Step 7 – Installing the Tracks

The next step before installing the bathtub shower doors is to place the track on the area where the sealant has been applied. Let it rest for a couple of minutes then make sure it sticks properly.

Step 8 – Side Tracks

Drill holes on the side of your bathtub to place the side tracks of the new bathtub shower doors. Make sure the holes on the wall coincide with that on the side tracks.

Step 9 – Placing the Side Tracks

Apply a thick layer of silicone sealant on the sides. Place the side tracks and fit it securely by drilling in with screws.

Step 10 – Top Track

The final track to be attached is the top one. Make sure the top track sits properly on the installed side tracks. Screw the top track of the bathtub shower doors in, with the help of a drill.

Step 11 – Installing the Bathtub Door

Lift the door and fix it into the slot between the two tracks. Make sure that the wheel at the bottom of the bathtub doors align with the tracks. Only then will it facilitate in the free sliding movement of the doors.

Step 12 – Accessories

In the final step attach the handles on the bathtub shower doors as per the instruction manual. Caulk application is a must to avoid water leaking out of the sides of the bathtub doors.
