Reflective insulation

Reflective insulation is a product that is made out of layers of aluminum and plastic substrates. Reflective insulation, unlike other types of insulation, actually reflects heat. Adding reflective insulation to your home can reduce the amount of heat that escapes. Over time, this can save you a lot of money. Installing reflective insulation is easy, and this article will show you how to do it.

Step 1--Placing the Reflective Insulation

There are several places where you would want to place reflective insulation. These locations are where heat escapes or collects the most. Reflective insulation is best used in the attic where there is little insulation to begin with or on the bottom of floors.

Step 2--Installing Reflective Insulation

When you install reflective insulation in the attic, make sure you cover the roof joists and that it covers everything that is exposed to the heat. Use staples to affix the reflective insulation to the wood. You can also use it to wrap ducts. When you do this, you will tape it along a seam.
