Installing Vinyl Stair Treads
Vinyl stair treads are often installed to create a surface on the stairs that will prevent slips and falls. Vinyl stair treads can be installed on either commercial or residential stairs and will extend the life of the stairs.

Measure the width and depth of each stair. Since each stair may be a different measurement, measure each stair.
If there is a ledge or nose on each stair, include that length in the stair measurements.
Choose and purchase vinyl stair treads.
Align stair treads to center them on the stair. Using the marking pencil, draw a line along the edges of the treads so that they can be placed correctly once the adhesive is applied.
Set the vinyl stair treads aside. Apply adhesive to the stairs. The adhesive should be able to bond to both the vinyl tread and the material of the stair.
Replace the stair treads onto the stairs, making sure to align them with the marks previously made on the stairs.
Let the adhesive dry for a minimum of 24 hours before using the stairs once the treads have been installed.
