You walk by your kitchen sink and notice the smell and you wonder “Is my garbage disposal clogged?” There are certain signs which, when they occur, will notify you that it might be a clogged garbage disposal.
The first sign is the odor. When you can smell the beginnings of a foul smell, you know that it must be coming from the clogged drain and that your garbage disposal might be clogged.
Water Doesn’t Go Down
If the water doesn’t drain properly through the disposal drains and it takes a long time for water to go down, you could know without a doubt that your garbage disposal is clogged.
Food Particles Rises to the Top
If you are putting in food particles to be ground up but find that even though there is grinding noise, the food rises to the top, you definitely have a clogged garbage disposal. The grinding noise and teeth rotating means that there is no problem with your garbage disposal per say, but that you have a clogged drain that is not clearing away the ground food the way it should.
There could be gurgling sounds coming from the drain pipe, which could be heard especially in the bathroom. If there are any sounds you must call for a professional and get it checked immediately.
