January DIM Star: Copper Pipe Pot Rack

Once a month we like to shine the spotlight on an impressive DIYer by giving their shared project the ol’ “Did It Myself” (DIM) stamp of honor. And, as an added bonus, all DIM Stars are automatically entered into consideration for our first annual DIM Awards in May.

This month we congratulate “ljdhal” on their kitchen remodel. Share your project and next time it could be you!

What They Did

After deciding they needed a storage solution for fry pans, "ljdhal" installed a copper pipe from which to hang the pans with "s" hooks. Along with the 36" length of pipe, they used a 45 degree angle joint, 2 connectors, a male adapter and a female adapter, and another 45 degree angle joint. A wood dowel inside adds strength and support. After purchasing a copper cutter, the total cost came to $30.

Why We Like It

This DIYer made use of wall space to better organize their home, and they did it in a stylish way. Popular design trends of 2015 include using industrial materials, such as pipes, for unconventional purposes and replacing silver metal tones with ones like warm copper. This DIY project is not only functional, but trendy!
