January DIM Star: Fireplace Remodel and TV Mount January DIM Star: Fireplace Remodel and TV Mount
Once a month we like to shine the spotlight on an impressive DIYer by giving their shared project the ol’ “Did It Myself” (DIM) stamp of honor. And, as an added bonus, all DIM Stars are automatically entered into consideration for our first annual DIM Awards this May.
This month we congratulate “thebaran2” on his remodeled fireplace and TV mount installation. Share your project and next time it could be you!
What They Did
"Thebaran2" used anchor bolts and two-part epoxy to mount a television above his fireplace mantle. He also extended the fireplace area across the wall between two windows and replaced white-painted brick with gray stone.
Why We Like It
While some people are hesitant to install a TV over their fireplace because of heat and electrical issues, there are mounts available, like the one "thebaran2" used, that deflect heat. This particular mount also swings down to eye level to reduce neck and eye strain while watching it. "Thebaran2" used his DIY skill to mount this to the wall himself.
