June DIM Star: Sanded Pine Floors June DIM Star: Sanded Pine Floors
Once a month we like to shine the spotlight on an impressive DIYer by giving their shared project the ol’ “Did It Myself” (DIM) stamp of honor. And, as an added bonus, all DIM Stars are automatically entered into consideration for our first annual DIM Awards next May.
What they did
Jewelbox refinished the original pine wood plank flooring in their 100-year-old house. After removing linoleum and several layers of paint in various rooms, they sanded the original wood and applied 4 coats of tung oil as a sealant. Their total cost was $1,000.
Why we like it
The extensive work Jewelbox put into restoring the original wood flooring paid off, and proves that newer isn't always better.
