Whenever you are hanging a low ceiling pot rack there are several things to keep in mind. You will find that there are a lot of things that you will need to pay attention to to make sure that you are able to have your pot rack installed at a comfortable height. Pot racks are great when it comes to trying to save space. However, you will want to make sure that you are able to keep the space above your head saved as well.

Step 1 – Ceiling Height

The first thing that you will need to keep in mind is the height of your ceiling. While doing this, you will also need to think about the person that will be using the pot rack the most. You do not want the person that is using it to bump their heads on the pots or not be able to reach them at all. Typically, eight foot ceilings require the rack to hang eighteen inches, thirty inches for a nine foot ceiling and forty two inches for a ten foot ceiling. These are heights that you can begin with. Use a measuring tape to be able to help give the cook a good idea of where exactly the pots and pans will be hanging from. If they are very tall or very shot then they may need adjustments to be made from there.

Step 2 – Location

The location of the actual pot rack is something else that you should keep in mind. If a lot of people will be walking underneath where the pot rack will be, then you will need to be sure to pay close attention to how low they hang. Should you have a low ceiling, then it is usually a good idea to not set these pot racks in an area where people walk around frequently. If someone really tall comes over then they could easily bump their heads on the pot rack, especially if you have a short cook in the house.

In addition to the location you will also need to think about what type of rack it is. If it is a mounted rack then you will need to think about what will be under it. If the pot rack hangs over a stove, then pay attention to how much work space it will ultimately leave you.

Step 3 – Pot and Pan Size

The size of your pots and pans is something that you are also going to have to keep in mind. Be sure to measure them to see how low they will hang down. This will help you to understand how low or high you will need to hang them. Remember that it is the pots and pans that you are wanting to make easy to grab, not the actual rack itself. If the pots and pans are too low then they will most definitely be in the way. If you have an especially low ceiling then it is a good idea to invest in some shorter pots and pans.
