Latex paint is one of the most common types of household paints. Because we use latex paint for some many applications, there are often times we need to clean spills or remove old paint. Removing latex paint is actually quite simple.
Tips to Remove Latex Paint
If the latex paint is still wet, it can be easily cleaned with detergent and water. Often the detergent isn’t even necessary, and the latex paint can be removed with water alone. Be sure to use white towels or cloths so you don’t accidentally bleed color onto your surface that may prove to be more difficult to clean up than the latex paint.
If you need to remove latex paint that is already dried, all it takes is rubbing alcohol. Thoroughly wet the latex paint with the rubbing (isopropyl) alcohol and then cover with plastic to prevent it from evaporating. After a short time, you should be able to remove the latex paint with water. Depending on the surface on which the latex paint is adhered, you may also have some luck by simply scraping it away with a dull tool.
