Laying a Cobblestone Walkway: 3 Tips Laying a Cobblestone Walkway: 3 Tips

If you are planning on laying a cobblestone walkway, here are a few tips to follow.

Tip 1 - Preparation Is Key

Not preparing the area is a huge mistake that will lead to unsatisfactory results. While you may want to just lay down the cobblestone, it is much better to make sure that you are getting rid of any dust, debris or even weeds before you do so. It is much easier to maintain if you start with a fresh area.

Tip 2 - Use a Mallet

Using a rubber mallet as you work can ensure that you are getting the stones in deep enough and that they are secure. Once you lay down the stone just tap it into the sand with a mallet and use a level to make sure it is even with the rest.

Tip 3 - Apply a Sealant

This is a huge tip. Make sure that you are applying a sealant after you finish laying your cobble stone. This will not only help to protect the stone and keep up the appearance, but it will also keep sand from coming out of the cracks and weeds from growing in.

These three tips are great whether they are used alone or together and can help you get the walkway that you imagined.
