Making a Trolling Motor Mount for a Jon Boat Making a Trolling Motor Mount for a Jon Boat

What You'll Need
Screw Driver
Measure Tape
Drill Machine
Screws
Hammer
Plywood
Material for decoration
Glue

Trolling motor mount for a Jon Boat helps a fisherman to get some control over his boat while fishing. It also helps the fisherman to get some fish quickly in a quiet manner. It proves to be very imperative for catching fish; but on the other hand, it could also prove to be very time-consuming and tiring for the fisherman.

Step 1: Space Required

Measure the amount of capacity required to make the trolling motor for the Jon Boat. Just place down the motor and the pedal on the floor and with the help of a measuring tape. You need to measure from the front till the back so that there is enough space for you to stand. Then, don’t forget to measure the height and width of the interiors of the Jon boat.

Step 2: Framing and Deck

With the help of a drill machine and some screws, build a frame inside the front of the Jon Boat. You then need to make the cutting of the plywood of the deck for the Jon boat with a hammer, so that it is able to be framed then.

Step 3: Decorating

You would need some material to decorate your Jon Boat as well. So you can use a carpet to cover the deck of the boat and glue it to stick to the mounted plywood deck.

Step 4: Mounting of Motor

After you have glued the carpet on the plywood, you can then mount the motor to the deck of the Jon Boat, with the help of some screws and a screwdriver.

Step 5: Ready to Use

You are now ready to use the trolling motor but you need to keep in mind that one of your hands would always remain on the rod, especially when you are sailing on a shore line where there are a lot of cuts. And then on the other side, when you have to grab the motor, you would have to be facing the wrong direction which requires you to switch your hands with your rod right before steering.
