You may be trying to decide between an automatic pool cover and a manual model. Both types of cover work pretty much the same way, but there is a lot more work involved in using a manual cover.
1. Manual Pool Covers
Manual pool covers usually have a hand crank at one end. As you can imagine, cranking in a long pool cover is going to be quite a workout. On the other hand, if you have a uniquely shaped pool, you may not have much choice except to use a manual cover, as an automatic design may not be available for your pool layout.
2. Automatic Pool Covers
An automatic pool cover roller works at the push of a button, retracting or extending the pool cover in a matter of seconds. Automatic covers are definitely easier to operate, especially in case of emergency.
3. Convenience Through Automation
An electric pool cover can be set on a variety of timers. For example, you can connect a remote control box that allows you to trigger the mechanism from anywhere in the area. You could also use rain, wind, or humidity sensors to help protect your pool when bad weather looms.
