November DIM Star: Mosaic Tile Front Porch

Once a month we like to shine the spotlight on an impressive DIYer by giving their shared project the ol’ “Did It Myself” (DIM) stamp of honor. And, as an added bonus, all DIM Stars are automatically entered into consideration for our first annual DIM Awards next May.

This month we congratulate “Jon Dow” on his mosaic tile front porch. Share your project and next time it could be you!

What They Did

"Jon Dow" created a mosaic front porch. He first laid a border of unbroken tile around the perimeter of the porch and then filled in the remainding area. Using three types of tile, "Jon Dow" was able to create an eclectic look with different colors, shapes and sizes. His tip when creating a mosaic is to avoid piecing everything together like a puzzle and just go for a true random effect.

Why We Like It
This DIYer designed a front porch that's sure to make each visitor take a second look. The best part? The tiles were free. With borrowed tools he only had to spend $10 for grout. The result is an inexpensive project that any DIYer can make their own.
