Painting a Metal Bed Frame Painting a Metal Bed Frame

What You'll Need
Wire brush
Spray paint (anti-rust)
Rags
Newspaper
Drop cloth
Screwdriver
Wrench

Metal bed frames are, by far, stronger than wood or other materials. Over time these metal bed frames can become rusty or dull. Even though the appearance of metal bed frames does not impact their effectiveness the appearance does hinder the decor or color scheme of the room. The solution is to paint metal bed frames whatever color you like and this article will show you how.

Step 1 - Preparation

Choose an area where you can work without worry of damaging anything. Put down newspaper and drop cloth. Use the screwdriver and wrench to take the bed frame apart and lay the pieces on the drop cloth and newspaper.

Step 2 - Cleaning

Use the wire brush to remove any dirt or loose paint from the metal bed frames. Work aggressively to get off as much of the old paint as you can. When you are finished use the rags to dust off the metal bed frames. Any debris left behind can ruin the paint.

Step 3 - Painting the Metal Bed Frames

Use the spray paint and paint the pieces evenly on both sides. Let each piece dry and then apply a second coat of the paint.
