When you are patching stucco, there are a number of different things that you will need to keep in mind. Here are some of the best tips to keep in mind and a few mistakes that you will want to avoid when patching stucco.

Wear Protective Gear

When you are patching stucco, you want to make sure to wear some protective gear. If you are chipping up the old stucco, you want to make sure that you have a mask and some goggles on. This project can get very dusty and dirty in a hurry.

Small Patches

If you are trying to fix a small hole in your stucco, you should be able to use a premixed stucco patching compound. In order to apply this type of compound, you can use a small putty knife or a flat scraper. Using this type of compound is great because it is already textured and it dries within one to two hours.

Breaking the Surrounding Stucco

When you are doing this, you will want to make sure to avoid breaking or cracking the surrounding stucco. Stucco can be very fragile and you want to make sure that you do not cause any further problems while you are patching.
