Perimeter Security: Installing an Access Control Gate Perimeter Security: Installing an Access Control Gate

If you are thinking about installing an access control gate you are on the right track. Security gates can bring you the peace of mind you need for perimeter security, because this way you can eliminate, or reduce at least the possibilities for theft and intrusion of burglars. There are different types of access controls out there, so before installing one, you should decide which one meets your needs the best.

What is the Access Control?

The access control gate is the electronic safety system that restricts or allows entry and access to certain premises. It is one of the most effective and efficient systems for perimeter security and can be used both in private houses or business facilities. The access control gates can ensure the safety of the people living in a property but also the property from unwanted and uninvited visitors. Providing you with the full control of who enters and exits your property you can rest assured that you and the people you love are safe.

The access control gate you will install can be either simple or more complicated. It all depends on your needs and your budget, but you should always keep in mind that if you wish to protect your property you have to spend some amount of money.

Types of Gates

Simple gates are not convenient anymore; powered gates with access control and keypad access are convenient, but require some sort of maintenance and of course a protocol that would allow people without an access control device to enter the property. If you plan to install automatic and access control gate yourself, you should know that all the above mentioned issues can make this task daunting.

Things to Consider

One of the things to consider is the type of electronic access. Will you have a video camera and sound enabling system with a speaker system that allows people to talk to you while at the gate? The CCTV loop is a good option, which provides you with live footage of people who are approaching the gate. The monitoring system you will choose can make things even more complicated if you install the access system on your own.

Another thing to note is how you want the gate to open. If it opens with a remote you should hire a professional to install the device: you can also opt for keypad or finger pad system that will be available to a short list of people. Keep in mind, though, that you should choose a motor system that will allow the door to open smoothly.

When planning to install an access control gate you should consider certain points, such as the number of exit and entry points in your property, their location, the level of security you want, the operation mode and other possible electronic systems that operate in the premises. Moreover, you need to consider the movement of your family or staff in the building and around it and the potential growth of the property or building where you need the access control gate.
