When it comes to choosing carpet cleaning methods, there are several things that you should take into consideration. If you have pets and kids, you will need to avoid certain methods that could be harmful to them. You need to use green carpet cleaning methods that do not involve any harsh chemicals. Here are a few things to consider about pet and kid friendly green carpet cleaning methods.

Remove Pets and Kids

Regardless of what cleaning method you are trying to implement, you need to remove your pets and kids from the room while you are cleaning. Even if you are using a cleaning solution that does not have any harsh chemicals in it, you do not want your pets or kids to run through it. This could result in your carpet getting the dirt off of your kid's shoes on it and making your problem worse.

Vacuum

One of the best methods of carpet cleaning might be simple but it is also very effective. When you need to clean your carpets, you should start out by vacuuming. Vacuuming the carpet regularly is critical to make sure that your carpet stays clean. You should try to vacuum the carpet at least once a week and sometimes more frequently if you are dealing with high-traffic areas. This will remove the excess dirt from the carpet and make it much cleaner overall.

Cleaning Solutions

When you are dealing with stains in the carpet, you have to use some type of cleaning solution in most cases. You can try cleaning the spot with water, but if it does not come out, you will need something a little stronger. You do not want to use any cleaning solutions that have chemicals that could be dangerous to your pets or kids. Because of this, you may want to make a carpet cleaning solution with some of the items that you have around the house. One of the best homemade carpet cleaning solutions is a combination of vinegar and water. You can mix a solution of vinegar and water and then apply it to the stained area. After allowing it to soak into the stained fiber for a few minutes, you should be able to blot up the stain.

Ice

Another method that sometimes works is to clean your carpet stains with ice. If your children get gum or something else that is sticky on the carpet fibers, you can use ice to remove it. Rub the ice on the sticky substance for a few minutes and it should cool it down significantly and harden it. Once it is hard, you should be able to break it out of the carpet fibers.

Hot Water

You can also use a method known as hot water extraction. This type of cleaning is done with a hot water extraction machine. With this method, you will put water into the machine and it will create steam. The steam will clean the carpet and remove tough stains.
