Plastic Pond Liner Repair Instructions Plastic Pond Liner Repair Instructions

Pond liner repair can be a daunting and troublesome task if you do not know the right way to do it. However, using the following easy step by step process, you can repair your plastic pond liner with a few materials and a bit of effort.

Materials Needed for the Repair

  • holding tank;
  • primer;
  • glue, and;
  • patch material

How to Repair the Liner

Step 1: Before you begin to repair the crack in the liner, you will have to remove all the fish from the pond and place them in a holding tank.

Step 2: Next, you have to remove the water from the pond and expose the liner in order to let it dry. Do not try to yank the liner out of the pond since it could pose problems when putting it back in its place. If you notice any algae on the liner, scrub it off immediately.

Step 3: Once you have cleaned the area around the crack, it is time to apply the primer over that area. Once the primer has completely dried, you need to apply glue over the now primed area.

Step 4: After the glue has dried slightly, place the patch material over the area and press it against the liner for it to attach firmly. In order for it to remain pressed, use some heavy object and place it over the patch material. Let it stand for about 5 to 6 hours and then re-examine the crack. It should have completely disappeared. If it did not disappear, repeat the process.

Step 5: Refill the pond with water and move the fish from the holding tank into the pond.
