A pond UV sterilizer can be an important way to ensure that there is no algae formation in your pond. The sterilizer uses the ultraviolet rays to keep algae away, and can keep your pond neat, clean and smelling good at all times. Step 1: After unplugging the sterilizer from the electrical socket, switch the UV apparatus and pump.
Step 2: Dismantle the unit, remove the intake hose and the discharge the pipes from the UV sterilizer. Drain out all the water.
Step 3: Remove the quartz sleeve from the bulb and wash the bulb carefully with lukewarm water. Avoid using any kind of soap or detergent for cleaning the bulb. Failure to do so can be harmful to the aquatic plants and animals. If there are a lot of algae in the pond, you will have to clean the pond at least twice a week until the algae growth is brought under control.
Step 4: Ensure the quartz is cleaned well using vinegar, and make sure the quartz is rinsed thoroughly.
Step 5: Next, reassemble the pond UV sterilizer and ensure that all the fittings are in place. Make sure that the UV light is in working condition before you put it back in the pond. It is recommended that you change the UV lamp once annually to ensure efficient functioning of the sterilizer.
