Popular Pansy Flower Types
The pansy flower is very popular because it comes in a wide variety of colors. Winter pansies can be brown, maroon, yellow, blue, orange, red and even white. They are also hearty flowers, because they don't need a lot of sunlight or water in order to thrive. Here are the most common types of pansy flowers.
- Monkey Faced Pansies. These types of pansies have bright, vibrant colors on the ends of the petals with dark splotches in the middle. This makes the pansy form a face, and there can be multiple colors on one blossom.
- Clear Faced Pansies. Unlike monkey faced pansies, clear faced pansies are one solid color throughout the blossom.
Majestic Giants. Most types of pansy flower blossoms are small, but majestic giants can have blooms as large as four inches in diameter.
- Wild Pansies. Unlike most pansies that are grown in gardens or greenhouses, wild pansies are the ancestor flowers that are still found in the wild. They carry many of the characteristics of common garden pansies.
Finally, the most important thing to know is that these pansies can be cross-pollinated to form even more colorful varieties.
