In order to make sure you do not get hurt by falling off the roof, you need to be wearing a roof safety harness. The harness can either be attached to a specific part of the roof, or if the home is really small, it can be attached to the ground on the other side.

Step 2 – Practice Roof Safety

Part of practicing roof safety when walking on a metal roof is to make sure you are not walking on moss patches, in between joists, or on a wet incline. You will either slip, or cause a break in the seam.

Step 3 – Use a  Board

In order to guarantee safety, use a 2 x 4 piece of plywood in order to stand on. The long side of the board should rest sideways against the joists. This will give you a safer surface to walk on as well as spread your weight across several joists in order to protect the roof.
