Repair a Cracked Travertine Floor Tile
Repairing a cracked Travertine floor tile is not an overly difficult task. It is worthwhile to be aware how to do it yourself, so as to act immediately in case you notice any cracks in your tiles. The sooner you repair it, the better. You will avoid having the crack becoming bigger, and worse still, beyond repair. Here is a basic overview on how to best go about it.
Tools and Materials Needed:
- Vacuum cleaner
- Small Brush
- Caulk Gun
- Tile Caulk
- Sponge
Step 1: Prepare the Area
Start off by preparing the cracked area. You have to clean it properly before repairing it. Get rid of any loose debris and dust. Use a small brush and a vacuum cleaner to suck away the debris.
Step 2: Filling the Crack
Once the area has been cleaned, Fill the crack with tile caulk. Apply it with a caulk gun. Try to acquire a tile caulk that matches the shade of the travertine tiles you have, so as to make the repaired area less noticeable. Make sure you fill the crack completely.
Step 3: Finishing Up
Once you have filled the crack, wipe away any excess caulk. You can use a small, damp sponge to do this. Make sure you allow the patch to set well, before treading on it.
