Repair and Replace Sliding Door Rollers Repair and Replace Sliding Door Rollers

What You'll Need
Sliding door rollers
Clean rags
Spray lubricant

Over time the sliding door rollers can rust, come loose and bend. It is possible to repair and replace sliding door rollers and the following article will show you how to do both.

Step 1 – Remove the Stationary Door

Inspect the stationary door where it rests against the frame. Remove the screws and then lift the door up. Tilt it toward you for maximum control and remove it.

Step 2 – Inspect the Sliding Door Rollers

Look for signs of the rollers being bent. Use the screwdriver to bend them back to shape. Look for hair and other fabrics and then remove them if present. You will also want to lube the wheels. Test the sliding door. If it slides easily, then replace the stationary door, otherwise you will need to replace the sliding door rollers.

Step 3 – Remove the Rollers

Lift the sliding door out of the track and lay it down. Look for the screw inside the sliding door rollers and remove it. Pull off the rollers.

Step 4 – Install

Purchase identical sliding door rollers and then slide back on the door. Insert the screw and then tighten. Put the door back in place and replace the stationary door.
