Weather stripping is an essential element of the car. To keep the cold weather out while you drive, here are a few tools and materials you will need to replace your weather stripping. Follow these quick steps and you will be driving comfortably in no time.

Step 1 – Measure and Prepare

Begin by measuring around the door with a tape measure to determine what size of the weather stripping that you will need. You can buy weather stripping for certain makes and models, so check with a dealership or auto shop if you are interested in doing this. However, you can also find general weather stripping to cut to size.

Step 2 – Clean the Area

Make sure that the door is completely open and that you have access to the door. Clean it off with a rag using wax and grease remover to get all of the grime off.

Step 3 – Apply Adhesive

Find the door jam and apply the adhesive where you want the weather stripping to go. Begin at one top corner and then work your way around and down. Be sure to apply it where the old weather stripping was. Smooth it out completely so it lays flat. Hold it firmly as it seals and allow it to dry before you use the door.
