Should I re-calibrate my engine with a new motorcycle exhaust system?
Whenever a motorcycle exhaust system is replaced with an after market system, the engine must be recalibrated. This will adjust for the change of air and exhaust flow within the engine, which results from the new exhaust system. Fine tuning the engine will maximize the performance enhancing effect of the motorcycle’s new exhaust system. It will also be necessary to rejet the carburetor, but this procedure should not be done until after the motorcycle’s engine is recalibrated. Taking these two steps will ensure the maximum efficiency of the motorcycle’s new after-market exhaust system, and can aid in providing an additional performance boost or more fuel economy for your bike.
