Simple Inground Pool Repairs

Leaks in indoor pools are very common which means that indoor pool repairs are necessary. There are a number of simple repair projects that you can complete yourself. Not only will this save you money, but it will also ensure that your pool is repaired as quickly as possible. Many of these repairs do not require any specialist skills to be done properly which means that anyone can do them.

Many of these indoor pool repair projects are actually very simple and shouldn't take long to complete. You also only need a few basic tools and materials to perform most of these tasks. The tools and materials required will depend on the type of pool you are repairing, vinyl-lined and concrete pools are two of the most common types of pool.

Step 1 - Repair a Concrete In-ground Pool

To repair a concrete pool you should first empty all of the water out of the pool so that the water level is below the crack. This will make repairs much easier and more successful.

If the crack has any loose material, then this should be scraped out and removed. This will ensure that the patch has a solid and secure base to stick to. A chisel can be used on concrete pools to scrape out the loose material.

Step 2 - Prime

The damaged area should then be coated using PermaFlex, this will be able to get into all of the pores of the concrete and seal them. This will ensure that the patch will be able to bond to the concrete pool properly.

Step 3 - Mix Solution

Mix the solutions included in your patching kit to create a thick mixture, which then needs to be applied to the damaged area of the pool. The patch can then be stuck onto this solution.

Once the patch has been applied another two coats of PermaFlex should be applied over the top. This will help to completely seal the patch to avoid any potential problems with leaks.

Vinyl Pools

If you have a vinyl pool then the repair methods will be different, you don't actually need to drain the pool as underwater repair kits can be purchased. Look for the tear in the vinyl liner, if this isn't noticeable then you may want to hire a diver to take a look for you.

The vinyl repair kit can then be used to patch the hole in the liner. You must follow all of the directions included with the repair kit to ensure that the repair is done correctly.

Repairing a pool is very simple and will save you a lot of money in the long run. This will also make your pool last much longer with minimal expense. By repairing leaks early you will find the project easier and much cheaper to complete.
