Sliding security gates are good alternatives to swing gates as they require less space to operate while at the same time offering better security. Sliding security gates come in two types—ground tracked gates and cantilever gates.

1. Ground Tracked Gates

Ground tracked gates consist of two main components: the rail on which the gate slides embedded in the ground spanning the opening length, and the wheels below the gate which help the gate to slide on the rail. Be careful to keep the rail free of debris and remember the surface has to be leveled to lay the rail track.

2. Cantilever Gates

Cantilever gates are gates hanging on horizontal posts and need no track to operate. These gates can be hung behind a wall perimeter and work silently. They do, however, require more space than tracked gates and are more expensive to buy and install.

The ground tracked and cantilever gates offer their own advantages and disadvantages, which should be carefully considered before choosing the best gate for your property.
