What You'll Need
Vanilla candles
Stencils
Stencil Adhesive
White craft paint
Candle Painting medium (we used DecoArt's)
Cotton balls
Rubbing alcohol
Sponge brush
Newsprint for protecting surfaces

Decorate your candles in a tone-on-tone design using simple stencils.

Step 1 - Prep Your Stencil

Before you can apply your stencil you'll want to ensure proper adhesion. Using stencil adhesive, spray on the wrong side of stencil. Then allow it to dry until tacky, but not completely.

Step 2 - Prep the Candle

Decorate your candles in a tone-on-tone design using simple stencils.

Next, get your candle ready for the stencil. Clean the candle by rubbing alcohol-soaked cotton balls on the candle surfaces. Allow it to dry, which only takes a few minutes.

Step 3 - Prep Your Medium

Mix paint in the color of your choice with candle painting medium. Center the stencil on the candle and press until it adheres firmly into place on the candle's surface. Dip a sponge brush lightly into the paint. Remove excess paint by dabbing the brush onto newsprint. Then paint the stencil openings and remove the stencil.
