Clean, Contemporary Styles Now Dominate in Kitchens and Baths
Consumers will be cleaning up their kitchens and baths in 2014, at least from a design standpoint, according to the annual Design Trends Survey released today at the 2014 Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (KBIS) by the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA).
While consumers still prefer transitional kitchens by a slight margin, contemporary will be the fastest growing kitchen style this year. In bathrooms, contemporary already surpassed transitional to take the top spot in design for 2013, with even more growth anticipated in 2014.
Fading fast are Provincial, Tuscan and country/rustic styles and the distressed cabinet finishes that often accompany them, along with their companion bronze, terracotta and red color schemes.

New Storage Products Unveiled at 2014 International Builders' Show
The Gladiator Brand is set to introduce a series of new products with both "curb-side" appeal and interior applications that build value for the home at the Las vegas International Builders' Show this week.
"Many homeowners don't realize that there are affordable, customizable storage solutions for the laundry area," said Rebecca Ross, Brand Manager at Gladiator Brand. "For example, the Everest White collection provides the strength and versatility for garage storage, but provides a softer design aesthetic for inside the home."
The cluttered garage or laundry room might not just be unsightly; it likely will affect the home's value, according to a recent survey from Gladiator Brand GarageWorks. A January 2014 survey of 500 real estate brokers or agents found that four out of five believe that an unorganized garage negatively impacts a potential home buyer's first impression. Nearly all real estate brokers or agents surveyed said that first impression impacts whether a potential buyer ultimately purchases a home.
