Homeowners and renters looking to make extra money by renting out their homes to visitors in town to watch the Broncos play the Seahawks in Super Bowl XLVIII are urged to first contact their insurer, according to the Insurance Information Institute (I.I.I.).

The Home Industry Leadership Board (HILB) released today nationwide survey* results from its first annual Homeowner Mood & Mindset survey. The survey reveals homeowners' attitudes towards researching, hiring and working with home service professionals.

"A goal of the survey was to examine how the new generation of homeowners approaches the hiring process as compared to the older generation of homeowners," said Chris Teriill, HILB president and CEO of HomeAdvisor. "This information helps to identify opportunities to improve the hiring process for homeowners and service professionals, especially as it relates to the Millennial Generation."

LendingTree Survey Reveals 71% of Current Homeowners Are Contemplating Selling in 2014

According to a recent LendingTree survey conducted online by Research Data Technology, Inc. from December 20-28, 2013, current and potential homeowners have a generally optimistic outlook on the US economy and housing market. More than two-thirds (69 percent) of respondents have a positive outlook on the housing market and 63 percent expect the US economy to continue to improve in 2014. Because of the optimistic outlook and improving home values, 71 percent of current homeowners said they are considering selling their home in the next 12 months, making 2014 an active year in the housing market.

Lowe's Selects to Simplify the Search for Home Professionals

Lowe's and announced a strategic partnership to connect consumers with experienced home improvement professionals for nearly any project outside of Lowe's current installation services, and help pros increase their exposure to consumers seeking their services.
