Save on Summer Home Improvement

With Summer is full swing, home improvement projects are on the rise. No other time of year seems to be as popular for doing work around the house, however it’s important to stay budget conscious in the process. Fortunately, DailyFinance has released a great guide on shopping smart to keep your home improvement project affordable.

First and foremost, they suggest being careful with deferred financing plans offered at supply stores. You’ll often see those store cards that offer 0% financing along with some nice upfront deal like 20% your current purchase. That’s all great if you can pay off the card within the introductory period, but as DailyFinance points out, often interest will be retroactive on these cards – charging you interest from the day you signed up.

Next, DailyFinance suggests avoiding the big brand stores for all your hardware needs. You can often get discounted tools at stores like Harbor Freight, or if you don’t think you’ll use the tools more than once, renting can be a great cost saving option.

Lastly, they suggest checking Craigslist and similar sites for people who purchased too many supplies and are looking to unload leftovers. This can be a great option if you have a little more free time than money to spend, but be wary of long distance pickups, etc., as fuel costs can offset and initial benefit.

Calvert Handyman and Home Improvement Launches New Website

Calvery Handyman and Home Improvement announced the launch of their new website. According to William Swindell the site was launched with the aim of reaching out to the community and making it easier and more convenient for homeowners to obtain the home repair and improvement services they needed, when they needed it.

In William Swindell's words, "Calvert Handyman and Home Improvement strives to reach out to homeowners and offer them quality work at reasonable rates. We are excited to display our new website and to bring to the community the different levels of services at very affordable rates. Calvert Handyman and Home Improvement operates on the principle of treating our customer's houses as our own."

“Besides emergency repairs, regular home maintenance and home repairs are also a must. Very often, homeowners are so busy with their professional and personal lives that there is little or no time to attend to small issues that need to rectified or repaired. Unfortunately, when neglected these minor repair words could quickly escalate and turn into major disasters. A dripping faucet if left unrepaired could cause a major leakage problem in the floor, which would then require extensive repairs. With Calvert Handyman and Home Improvement, there's nothing to worry about. They are the people you can trust to look after your home as their own when you do not have time to do the necessary repairs and maintenance.”

Sanus TV Mount Giveaway to Increase Children’s Safety

For many Americans, a flat panel TV is a great way to enjoy family time and entertainment. However, most parents are unaware of the safety risks that flat panel TVs pose for kids. Due to increasing size and new ultra-thin designs, today’s flat panel TVs can easily tip over when bumped or pulled, toppling off of furniture and causing injury or even death.

Bringing this risk to the forefront, Sanus, a leading designer and manufacturer of flat panel TV wall mounts, has partnered with Safe Kids Worldwide. By educating consumers on the risk of unsecured flat panel TV’s, Sanus and Safe Kids Worldwide are offering safe solutions for families across the nation by reducing TV tip-over related injuries and fatalities.

To help encourage you to join their efforts, Sanus is advocating the mounting of flat panel TV’s in your homes and in doing so, offering one DoItYourself.com reader a complimentary flat panel Sanus TV Vuepoint Mount F180 (the reader will receive a mount that fits their respective TV – will not include installation).
