A Little DIY, FYI…
7 Home Improvement Apps to Help Your Inner Handyman
Looking for a way to incorporate your love for your smartphone into a DIY home improvement project? Gizmodo just released a great list of their top 7 favorite home improvement apps to help with your projects.
The apps cover a series of categories from the initial stages of finding inspiration, to planning your project, and even apps for staying on top of ongoing maintenance. We especially like the Colorsnap app from Sherwin-Williams which analyzes whatever color you’re interested in and finds a tint mix code for their paint brand. No more back and fourths to the hardware store trying to find the right color for your kitchen!

Fortunately most of these apps work both on iOS and Android, so whatever side of the tech war you fall on, you’ll be able to DIY with the best of them.
Not to Get Political But…
Our friends over at Porch.com (the world's first home improvement network analysis) recently released an interesting study finding that red states have spent more on entertainment and home improvements after the 2012 elections.
"We did see an increase in entertainment spending – possibly in reaction to the emotion they were feeling after President Obama was elected to a second term," said CEO of Porch.com, Matt Ehrlichman.
The data indicates that those states that tended to vote for Romney experienced more of an increase in entertainment spending than those states that voted for Obama. Porch.com theorizes that those states that were most disappointed in the results of the election were more likely to turn to entertainment.
The Greenguard Bathroom
Sterling, a Kohler brand, announced that most of its bathing and showering products made of Vikrell now carry Greenguard Gold Certification and can contribute to better indoor air quality and the wellbeing of consumers.
So what is a Greenguard Gold certification and why should you care? Greenguard Gold helps buyers identify interior products and materials that have low chemical emissions, improving the quality of the air in which the products are used. This means a healthier home for you and your family.

Because people spend the majority of their time in their homes, it is essential that they be safe and comfortable spaces for everyone to live and breathe in. Unfortunately, the indoor space exposes people to many more air pollutants.
“Achieving the GREENGUARD GOLD Certification for our Vikrell bath and shower products is another great testament to the quality of this material and the amazing value it brings to a home,” said Tim O’Connor, Sterling’s brand channel marketing director.
