Three Tips for Polishing Kitchen Cabinets
You can lengthen the life of your kitchen cabinets and keep them looking brand new if you clean and polish them regularly. Think about your cabinets like any other wood furniture in your home and care for them the same way.
1. Cleaning the Cabinets
Clean any your cabinets with warm, soapy water. Let the cabinets dry completely. Examine your cabinets for any small scratches. Use a wood touch-up stick or a felt tip marker in a corresponding color to fill any scratches you find. Blend the stick or ink into the area with the polishing cloth.
2. Removing Tough Stains
If you have tough stains that will not come off with dish detergent, you can try using vinegar to remove them. In a spray bottle, combine 1 cup of vinegar with 2 cups of warm water. Spray the stained areas and Rub gently with the a soft cloth to wipe clean
3. Polishing the Cabinets
You can make your own polish by mixing 1 cup of olive oil and ½ cup of lemon juice in a spray bottle. Apply your furniture polish to a polishing cloth. An old t-shirt works well for polishing. Wipe down one section of your cabinets with the cloth. Rub the area in small circular motions. Continue with the rest of your cabinets.
