Tips for Cleaning White Laminate Floors

White laminate flooring can give your room a fresh sparkling feel if it is kept properly clean. White laminate, especially the type with the shiny coating, will readily show spills, dust, dirt and footprints. A few basic maintenance procedures will keep your floor's appearance up to standards.

You Will Need

  • Broom
  • Mop
  • Bucket
  • Vinegar
  • Shine restorer

Step 1: Keep It Swept

Keep your white floor swept clean to reduce the amount of time you spend mopping. Preventing debris from being ground into the finish will protect and preserve your floor. Try to sweep it daily, especially if you have children and pets.

Step 2: Mop It

A white laminate floor, especially with a shiny coating, will streak if not mopped and rinsed properly. Use a half cup of vinegar to a gallon of hot water to mop the floor. Rinse thoroughly. You may find that if you use rags to dry it rather than air drying, it will further protect it from streaking.

Step 3: Restore the Shine

If you have a medium luster to high shine coating on your floor you will occasionally have to use a shine restorer on it. These are sold under many different brand names at supermarkets, hardware stores and do-it-yourself centers. Always apply to a clean floor per manufacturers instructions.
