Chipboard boxes can always come in handy when you are in need of a space to store or pack some of your things in. They can be used by businesses to pack a variety of products, such as frozen dinners, bottles of toothpaste, packs of bond paper or computer paper, and many more. For personal uses, these boxes may be used to store small personal things. They may also be used for packaging gifts before they are wrapped with colorful wrappers.
A chipboard box is basically a box made out of a simple paperboard or hard cardboard. It may also be made of some other types of thick, recyclable paper. They are mostly manufactured but you can always make your own customized chipboard box that fits your taste and design preferences. Here are some tips for making your own chipboard boxes:
Step 1 - Cut the Cardboard or Chipboard
Get a pair of scissors and start cutting the recycled chipboard into squares. It can be any size, depending on how small or high big you want your box to be. Just make sure that you cut them in uniform sizes. If you have bought the chipboard from a store, they may already be pre-cut and there is no longer a need for you to cut them.
Step 2 - Put Designs on the Squares
Make any design you want on the squares. Use any color or a combination of colors to make your finished product attractive. If you are creating the box for your business, you may want to put your business logo and business address on the surface of the squares. You may also use graphics.
Step 3 - Punch Holes on the Chipboard
Punch three holes on the edges of four of the chipboard squares: one on both corners and one in the middle. Do not punch any hole on the last box. This will serve as the base or bottom of your chipboard box.
Step 4 - Assemble the Box
Connect each square to each other, forming a box. Make sure that the edges that have no holes in them are pointed upwards. This will serve as the top of your chipboard box. Glue them together using a glue gun and glue sticks.
Step 6 - Cut the Twine
Get the twine and cut four strips of it. At least 20 inches long is preferred, especially if your box is sized 5 by 5 inches. Find the middle point of the strips by folding them in half. Lace them around the sides of the box you have formed and end by fashioning them into a bow on the outside top portion of the box.
Chipboard boxes sold commercially may sometimes be too pricey for your budget. Therefore, knowing how to make your own chipboard box can help you save on costs. You can devise your chipboard box in any way you like and there will always be room for you to practice your creativity. In addition, you may be able to earn a little from this activity, especially when you have memorized the steps by heart and already know how to better make your chipboard boxes more appealing.
