Outdoor swing sets are a lot of fun for families. They are an expensive piece of outdoor equipment, and you will need to take care of it to be sure it brings years of fun. The most important thing you can do, is protect it from the elements.
1 - Wood Swing Sets
If your swing set is made of wood, you will need to protect the wood from moisture, which will cause it to rot, and bugs, like termites, which can eat at the wood and cause it to become brittle, destroying the wood. Be sure to place the swing set in an area where it can dry in the sun if rained or snowed on to dry out the wood as soon as possible. Add a pest deterrent to the wood at least once a year during the summer months.
2 - Metal Swing Sets
If you set if metal, check the fittings often to be sure they are tight so moisture does not get inside of it. Also check all of the set to catch any areas that are starting to rust. Fix these problems as soon as they are found.
3 - All Swing Sets
With either type, be sure to cover it with a tarp in seasons it is not being used.
