Common Problems for Infrared Heaters

Infrared heaters will sometimes seem like they aren't working even after you turn them on. If this is the case, it is very possible that the infrared light bulb has gone out. Fortunately, these are cheap and easy to replace.

If you turn on your infrared heater and nothing happens, first check to make sure that it is plugged in. If it is, it could be the control panel. Repairing a control panel is a very simple task.

You’ll need to begin by taking the back off of the heater and removing the spring loaded filter. After that, remove the temperature sensor. Take off the bottom panel as well as the side panels, then the front panel. Unhook all of your wires on the left side of the control panel. Once you have done this, extract the control panel from its housing. Once your control panel has been taken out, you can replace it with your new part.

After the new control panel has been securely set, put your infrared heater back together. Whenever you are reattaching your wires, make sure that the red wire is on the bottom. After this you will need to plug in the left side wires.

When Not to Worry

A common misconception about infrared heaters is that they are supposed to work like normal heaters. They will not heat up your entire home and they are not meant to. These heaters specialize in warming up people or objects that are nearby. Your infrared heater also needs to be facing towards you in order for it to work effectively. If your infrared heater is not heating up your entire home, this is not an issue.
