Finding sustainable countertop materials for your remodel doesn't have to be a challenge. Companies have become more aware of the environment and are now making countertops that are not only eco-friendly and sustainable, but also extremely durable and long lasting. Here are a few types to consider when doing a project of your own.
Eco is a relatively new type of countertop material. It is made from 75 percent of recycled and raw materials and 25 percent natural elements. These recycled materials can consist of anything from bottle glass to stone from a factory. While they are made from eco friendly and recycled materials, they are also very durable. There is no need for a sealer and they are scratch, stain and scorch resistant. You can find them in 10 different colors and they are easy to install and maintain.
This type of countertop material is made from both concrete and recycled glass. While it is extremely durable and is comparable to granite, it isn't as porous, which allows for a smoother and easier to maintain surface.
This countertop material is made from scrap aluminum, which can come from anything recycled including an old fridge, and ploymetric resin. It is unique from the typical granite countertop look, but is both durable and sustainable.
