Use Biodegradable Cleaner for Your Drains
Using a biodegradable cleaner for your drain can be simple and effective. Using these types of cleansers can give you a bacteria-free finish while not creating more damage to the environment. There are several types of biodegradable and natural drain cleaners available.
Enzyme Based Products
An enzyme based drain cleaner will allow you to open up clogged drains without the need for chemicals. The enzymes break away material that can become built up in the drain over time. The enzyme based cleansers can also be effective on mold and mildew. Since the enzymes are naturally found, they pose no danger to the water supply when used correctly.
Baking soda and vinegar can be used to clear stopped drains. To use this method you will want to pour a cup of dry baking soda in to the drain. Follow this up with a cup of vinegar. Allow this to bubble in the drain for about 15 minutes. Then you can pour a pot of hot water in the drain to clear it up. This may require a couple of passes to clear heavy blockages. You can also use this in a toilet. Turn off the water and flush to empty the water from the bowl. Then follow the directions above.
