Wallpaper repair can seem like a frustrating situation, but this DIY job can be done with little effort and expense.
Step 1 - Repair a Small Tear
A small tear in the wallpaper can be easily mended with glue. Use a small paint brush to apply a small amount of glue to the back of the paper. Carefully and gently smooth the wallpaper back onto the wall.
Step 2 - Remove Wallpaper With a Large Tear
Be sure the wallpaper you have is a match to the paper that is torn. Cut a piece of the wallpaper that is somewhat larger than the area that is torn. Place the cut piece over the torn paper. Align the designs of both pieces so they match exactly. Use the utility knife to cut through the new piece of wallpaper and the torn piece. Use the scraper to remove the torn piece from the wall. Be careful to remove the paper without damaging the wall or the paper on the wall.
Step 3 - Apply New Paper to the Wall
Wet or glue the paper depending on the type of wallpaper you are using. Match the replacement piece to the paper on the wall. Carefully smooth out the replacement paper, starting in the center and moving to the edges.
