Within your household you have a water heater that heats all the water within the house, but after time has passed, you will begin to have trouble with your water heater and you will find that these can be fixed by doing some simple water heater troubleshooting. If you find that your pilot light will not stay lit, there are a few things that you can look at to see where the source of the problem lies.
Check the Connections
As always, ensure that everything is connected properly. Make sure that all the proper pipes and tubes are connected with their respective components. Sometimes things can simply become dislodged if they are bumped by accident.
Make Sure the Base Is Dry
Although you may not know the reason why, you water heater may have leaked water over the point where the pilot light is lit. If you take paper towels or a dry washcloth, you can make sure that the area is dry and that there is no presence of water.
Check for a Draft
Though it may seem silly, there is always the possibly that there is a draft that is preventing the pilot light from staying lit. If you find that this is the case, you are going to have to take whatever measures are necessary to stop this draft from causing more problems.
