Weed Eater Replacement Parts: How to Replace the Fuel Filter

What You'll Need
Needle nose pliers
Replacement fuel filter
6 inch length of heavy wire (or a coat hanger)

Weed eater replacement parts are easy to find and install. If the weed eater is not running smoothly then try changing out the fuel filter. There are several types of fuel filter so you may want to remove the filter and take it to the store with you to choose the replacement filter.

Step 1 - Make a Fuel Filter Tool

Take the piece of wire and use the needle nose pliers to bend a hook in the end.

Step 2 - Empty the Fuel

Remove the cap from the fuel tank. Empty the fuel into an approved container such as a gas can.

Step 3 - Remove the Fuel Filter

Put the hook down into the fuel tank and hook the fuel line. Lift the line up out of the tank. Pull the old fuel filter off of the fuel line.

Step 4 - Install the New Filter

Put the new weed eater filter on the end of the line. Examine the lines to see if there are any cracks or damage to the line. Put the fuel filter into the tank pushing it toward the other end of the tank.
